UAE Police urge motorists to drive safely during rainy weather
The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has issued a call to drivers, urging them to prioritise safe driving practices during rain and upcoming weather fluctuations.
The directive emphasises the importance of focusing solely on the road and avoiding distractions.
Drivers are specifically advised to adhere to designated speeds while activating the road speed reduction system. Maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, avoiding sudden braking, slowing down significantly when making turns to prevent sliding, and pulling over to the side of the road if visibility is compromised are highlighted as crucial precautions.
The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate echoes the call for adherence to safety rules, especially in inclement weather conditions such as rain. The warning extends to the perils of reckless and careless driving, drifting, risking navigation through valleys, and non-compliance with traffic laws.
Emphasising the heightened risks during rainy weather, the Directorate stresses the need for specific measures to enhance safety. These include keeping car windows clean for a clear view, ensuring the proper functioning of front lights to enhance visibility, and replacing old tyres with new ones to prevent slipping.
Furthermore, drivers are strongly advised to steer clear of valleys and areas prone to water accumulation. Avoiding proximity to electrical extension lines, open spaces, and trees during rain is emphasised to reduce potential hazards. Adherence to safety instructions and guidelines is emphasised as crucial for preserving the well-being of all road users.
In essence, the Abu Dhabi Police General Command emphasises the collective responsibility of drivers to exercise caution and follow safety measures during adverse weather conditions, ultimately contributing to the overall safety of the community.
