UAE: Mohammed bin Rashid announces new ministerial changes

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, announced a series of ministerial changes in the UAE government, with the approval of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State.

Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs Appointed

The Honourable Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid was named Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Maktoum, who oversaw the Ministry of Finance before, is charged with managing the federal economy's commercial and financial sectors in order to promote economic expansion and develop the next generation of leaders.

New Minister of State for Defence Affairs

Al Mazrouei, Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel, was named Minister of State for Defence Affairs. He was previously an advisor in the presidential office and an undersecretary in the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's court. Mohammed Al-Bawardi was thanked in the statement for his devoted service to the nation.

Leadership in International Affairs

Sister Maryam Hareb Al Muhairi, after concluding her term in the Ministry of Environment, was appointed as the head of the Office of International Affairs in the Presidential Office. Her achievements in environmental and food security matters were highlighted, including leading the UAE's bid at COP28.

New Minister of Environment

Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahak Al-Shamsi was appointed as the Minister of Environment. Recognised as a distinguished federal cadre, she is tasked with leading strategic projects related to the environment, agriculture, and internal food security.

Minister of State for Youth

Sultan Al Neyadi, an astronaut and accomplished individual holding a doctorate, was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth. As the first Arab to walk in space and spend the longest Arab space mission, he is expected to bring his expertise to youth-related issues.
