UAE: Heavy rainfall is expected with a temperature decrease on Sunday and Monday
The National Centre of Meteorology has issued a forecast indicating that the country will experience the effects of a surface depression extending from the southwest, coupled with an upper atmospheric depression, along with a westerly air current bringing intermittent clouds from the west on Sunday and Monday.
The Center highlighted that until the end of February, the nation will be influenced by air depressions originating from the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in weather instability. These conditions are characterised by southern winds stirring up dust and sand and the occasional multiplication of rain clouds.
During Sunday and Monday, the skies are expected to be partly to mostly cloudy, with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall, potentially heavy in certain areas, notably the northern, eastern, and coastal regions. Monday is anticipated to be cooler, particularly in western areas. Wind directions will shift from southerly to easterly, eventually becoming mild to moderately northwesterly, occasionally becoming vigorous in the presence of clouds. This could lead to occasional turbulence in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, with light to medium waves and the raising of dust and dirt at sea.
According to the weather forecast for today, mist or light mist may gather in the morning over certain inland and coastal locations before gradually clearing to reveal a partly overcast sky. By dusk, temperatures may climb along with an increase in clouds over certain coastal and northern locations. There will be a range of wind directions and speeds, from mild northeasterly to northwesterly.
February is characterised as a winter month, with the Arabian Gulf region experiencing the influence of a cold northern air mass. While temperatures generally decline across the country during this period, a slight increase is anticipated, particularly in the latter half of the month, compared to January. Relative humidity is expected to rise during February, with a possibility of light to dense fog formation, especially in coastal areas during the early morning hours. The average temperature range for February is between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius, with maximum temperatures ranging from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius.
