The UAE imposes up to 50,000 dirhams fines for these violations
Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern warning to drivers, cautioning that significant infractions could lead to a hefty penalty of Dh50,000 and the impounding of their vehicles. A recent incident involving a reckless driver highlights the severity of the consequences of disregarding traffic laws.
Reckless Driving Unleashes Chaos
A black SUV is seen in a startling video provided by the Abu Dhabi Police Department triggering a disastrous accident at a busy crossroads in the emirate. The video shows the motorist committing a sequence of traffic offenses in less than three seconds, resulting to a collision and subsequent loss of control.
Breach of Traffic Laws
The video reveals the risky actions step by step. The SUV was initially in a straight lane but abruptly turned left. Furthermore, the driver ran a red light, endangering vehicles on the opposite side of the road. Despite these obvious violations, the primary cause of the collision, according to the Abu Dhabi Police, was inattentive driving.
Distracted Driving Consequences
The driver's lack of focus on the road, possibly due to distractions like as phone use, social media surfing, calls, or taking photos, caused the serious collision, according to law enforcement officials. Distracted driving is punishable by a Dh800 fine and four black points under UAE law.
Additional Offenses and Severe Penalties
The driver not only ignored the signal but also ran a red light, earning him a Dh1,000 fine, 12 black points, and a 30-day suspension of his vehicle. To reclaim the parked SUV, the motorist must pay a substantial penalty of Dh50,000 within three months; else, the vehicle would be auctioned.Stay Focused on the Road
Abu Dhabi Police issued a crucial advisory to all drivers, urging them to maintain a constant focus on the road, be attentive to pedestrians, and adhere to traffic signs. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the grave consequences that can result from negligent and distracted driving in the emirate.
