Encompassing over 80,000 square meters, the project spanned various regions of Dubai, including residential, tourist, commercial, economic, and coastal areas.

The maintenance efforts targeted a diverse range of sidewalk types catering to pedestrians, crosswalks, service roads, and combined-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. These efforts addressed issues such as subsidence, erosion, damage, and tile loss due to improper use or environmental factors.

Hussein Al-Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, emphasized the significance of this endeavor within the broader strategy of preserving street assets. Al-Banna highlighted the importance of ensuring durability, safety, and sustainability while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the city.

Moreover, the project aims to enhance pedestrian safety in alignment with global standards, reflecting RTA's vision of becoming a leader in seamless and sustainable mobility. Looking ahead, RTA intends to expand the scope of preventive maintenance on sidewalks by at least 10% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

The maintenance plan encompasses various locations across Dubai, including Al Wuheida, Al Khabisi, Al Twar 2, Al Sufouh 1, 2nd December Street, Jumeirah Street cycling track, Al Rigga, Al Muraqabat roads, Dubai Marina cycling tracks, Jumeirah Street intersections, and Sheikh Zayed Road service sidewalks.

Throughout the maintenance and rehabilitation process, RTA remains committed to implementing necessary safety measures to ensure the uninterrupted flow of pedestrian traffic across the emirate. By prioritizing pedestrian safety and infrastructure maintenance, RTA continues to uphold its mandate of facilitating safe and efficient mobility solutions for residents and visitors alike.
