Dubai showcases digital initiatives for the food sector at Gulfood 2024
Dubai Municipality is prepared to demonstrate its efforts to ensure food safety and quality throughout the emirate at the start of Gulfood 2024, which begins today.
The municipality will also showcase its cutting-edge digital services for easing import, export, and registration activities for food products and shipments. Furthermore, during the event, which will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from February 19 to 23, the municipality will examine its entire digital programs and services in order to strengthen Dubai's food sector.
The digital services that the Dubai Municipality offers are essential for improving the accessibility of interconnected, flexible, and sustainable food supply networks. According to Dubai Municipality Director General Dawoud Al Hajri, these services advocate for environmental sustainability by ensuring that food companies, merchants, and suppliers are informed about current safety measures and food needs.
Al Hajri underlined the importance of the Dubai Food Systems Excellence Program and the municipality's involvement in the Gulfood Exhibition. The objective of this program is to honor exceptional dining venues that meet integrated criteria related to food safety, nutrition, sustainability of the environment, social responsibility, digitization, and innovation. Reiterating Dubai's status as a key global trade hub, encouraging food firms to set themselves apart, and preserving a sustainable food, health, and environmental system to improve people's quality of life are some of the program's goals.
Moreover, Dubai Municipality will evaluate its services for food merchants and suppliers, granting them access to the IRS to streamline import and export procedures and track food products. Additionally, the municipality will advocate for practices that minimize food loss and waste in the emirate, along with enhancing customer comprehension of the regulations, processes, and transactions associated with food shipments.
Al Hajri emphasized that the expo offers a perfect chance to promote the municipality's efforts to protect communities from food hazards while developing a sustainable food system in Dubai.
