The emirate-wide implementation of a paid holiday on this particular day was mandated by the Department of Human Resources in Sharjah. This notification was issued by all government facilities, agencies, and departments.

The Department of Human Resources in Sharjah made the announcement, stating that all government departments, agencies, and institutions in the emirate will observe a paid holiday on January 1, 2024. Following this holiday, official working hours are set to resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, providing government employees with an extended weekend.
