UAE Unveils Newest Attraction "Mountain Lake" Opens to Visitors in Sharjah
A new attraction has emerged in the bustling city of Sharjah, offering both residents and visitors a refreshing experience.
Situated along the Sharjah-Kalba Road, after the Al Hiyar Tunnel, Al Hefaiyah Lake stands as a symbol of the city's commitment to urban development and environmental sustainability. Spanning an impressive 132,000 square meters, this reservoir of water not only serves a strategic purpose but also adds to the city's scenic charm.
Inaugurated amid much anticipation and excitement on a Saturday afternoon, the lake holds promise as a recreational hotspot. Encircled by a 3.17-kilometer dual-lane road, it invites leisurely strolls and scenic drives, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Furthermore, a dedicated play area spanning 620 square meters ensures that children have their own space to frolic and enjoy the outdoors.
Named after its location, Al Hefaiyah Lake is part of a broader vision for urban development in the region. This initiative aligns with other recent projects, such as the Hanging Gardens in Kalba, which boasts an impressive array of trees and greenery spread across vast expanses.
Prominent guests at the inauguration ceremony included the Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council Member, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, as well as Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi.
Behind its picturesque facade, Al Hefaiyah Lake incorporates state-of-the-art technology and innovative design features. Specialized construction materials suited to the hilly terrain ensure durability and longevity. Moreover, a sophisticated water management system, including pipes connecting the mountains to the lake, facilitates efficient storage of surplus water, rainwater collection, and management of valley run-off.
With a storage capacity of 155 million gallons and a maximum depth of four meters, the lake serves as a vital resource for the community. To maintain water quality, three barriers and filters have been strategically installed, minimizing contamination from valley water and sedimentation.
As Sharjah continues to evolve, Al Hefaiyah Lake stands as a testament to the city's commitment to progress, sustainability, and enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors alike.
