UAE sets new directives to minimize weather damage in Sharjah
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the renowned Ruler of Sharjah and a prominent member of the Supreme Council, has issued a number of important orders in response to the recent unfavorable weather circumstances with the goal of minimizing the impact of the resulting damages throughout the province.
The moment His Highness saw how serious the situation was, he gathered the necessary authorities and had them do thorough evaluations of the extensive damage caused by the bad weather.
Among the foremost concerns addressed by His Highness is the need to alleviate the repercussions of inundated valley drains in the Emirate of Fujairah, particularly in the city of Kalba, where residential neighborhoods bore the brunt of flooding due to blocked drainage systems. In response, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has been tasked with promptly restoring these vital drainage channels to facilitate the efficient runoff of rainwater and prevent further inundation.
In addition, His Highness has stressed how crucial it is for different governmental agencies and civil services to work together in order to respond to the issue. To ensure that necessary support services are provided to affected residents promptly, the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority and the Sharjah Police General Command have been directed to work closely with the Department of Social Services, local authorities, and other pertinent agencies to expedite damage assessment procedures.
