UAE: LuLu Group sends 50 tonnes of aid to conflict-affected Gaza
LuLu Group International has extended its support to the war-torn region of Gaza by dispatching a second batch of relief supplies, aiming to alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis.
Amidst escalating conflict, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that as of February 3, approximately 1.7 million people have been displaced across the Gaza Strip, underscoring the urgent need for assistance.
Highlighting the dire situation, the World Health Organisation emphasised the exacerbated challenges facing Gaza, including shortages of essential services such as clean water, food, and fuel. Responding to the pressing needs, LuLu Group International organised a shipment comprising 50 tonnes of vital supplies, including food products, hygiene items, and other necessities. These relief materials were handed over to the authorities of the Egypt Red Crescent in Cairo on Monday.
Dr. Rami El Nasser, CEO of the Egypt Red Crescent, expressed appreciation for the timely assistance, affirming the organisation's commitment to promptly delivering the aid to the people of Gaza. He commended the efforts of LuLu Group chairman and managing director, MA Yusuffali, for his unwavering support of the Palestinian community.
The relief supplies were received by Dr. El Nasser, alongside representatives from LuLu Egypt, including Marketing Manager Hatim Said, Director Juzer Rupawala, Regional Director Huzefa Qureshi, and other officials.Dr. El Nasser highlighted the significance of this aid delivery in addressing the urgent needs of the affected population, emphasising the importance of solidarity and collaboration in times of crisis.
This initiative marks the second contribution by the LuLu Group to support the people of Gaza, following a previous donation of 50 tonnes of relief materials in December.
