UAE announces joining IAEA global response and assistance network for emergencies
The UAE has recently joined the IAEA's Response and Assistance Network (RANET), a global initiative aimed at providing support to countries facing nuclear or radiological emergencies.
Established in 2000, RANET has garnered participation from 43 countries, all of which have registered their proficiency in various areas such as medical care, radiation monitoring, and technological expertise.
By joining RANET, the UAE offers its capabilities to assist any IAEA Member State in need of help during a nuclear or radiological emergency, subject to the UAE's approval. Christer Viktorsson, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), highlighted the significance of the UAE's inclusion in RANET.
