Established in 2000, RANET has garnered participation from 43 countries, all of which have registered their proficiency in various areas such as medical care, radiation monitoring, and technological expertise.

By joining RANET, the UAE offers its capabilities to assist any IAEA Member State in need of help during a nuclear or radiological emergency, subject to the UAE's approval. This step underscores the UAE's commitment to global security and its readiness to contribute to international efforts to manage such crises.

Christer Viktorsson, Director-General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), highlighted the significance of the UAE's inclusion in RANET. He emphasized that this move showcases the country's exceptional preparedness and response measures in emergencies. Moreover, it reflects the confidence of the IAEA and its Member States in the UAE's competencies in this domain, built over years of collaboration with the Agency through workshops and participation in numerous exercises organized by the IAEA.

The UAE's enrollment in RANET is a testament to its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security in nuclear and radiological activities. It demonstrates the country's proactive approach to addressing potential risks and ensuring effective responses to emergencies that may arise.

Through its participation in RANET, the UAE not only contributes to global efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and response but also strengthens its own capabilities in managing nuclear and radiological emergencies. This engagement aligns with the UAE's broader objectives of promoting peace, stability, and cooperation at the international level.

Overall, the UAE's membership in RANET signifies a significant milestone in its journey towards becoming a responsible and proactive member of the global community. It underscores the country's commitment to upholding its international obligations and actively contributing to initiatives aimed at safeguarding global security and well-being.
