UAE: Etihad Rail completes inaugural passenger trip from Abu Dhabi to Al Dhannah
Etihad Rail ran the inaugural rail trip between Abu Dhabi and Al Dhannah, which was a significant turning point in the development of the rail service.
The project, currently under construction, aims to facilitate the travel of ADNOC's staff and contractors between the two cities once it is fully operational. Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Managing Director and Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), along with members of ADNOC's Executive Leadership team, undertook this historic journey.
The initiative aligns with ADNOC's strategic priorities of implementing transport solutions that contribute to the UAE's development and prosperity. Dr. Al Jaber emphasized that the development of passenger rail services between Abu Dhabi City and Al Dhannah City is part of the broader Etihad Rail project, transcending a mere rail network. It is envisioned as a vital economic artery, fostering infrastructure development, driving decarbonization, and supporting trade, industry, manufacturing, logistics, and population centers in the UAE.
It is clear that ADNOC and Etihad Rail are working together in their shipment of sulfur products from Shah and Habshan to Al Ruwais Industrial City, the point of export. With this partnership, ADNOC Sour Gas will be able to take its place among the world's foremost sulfur producers. Dr. Al Jaber was very proud of ADNOC's state-of-the-art facilities at Al Ruwais Industrial City, and he praised the employees' hard work in demonstrating the company's values of innovation and quality.
Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, highlighted the strategic partnership with ADNOC and the company's role as a pioneering adopter of rail transportation solutions in the country.
