UAE announces three requirements for social support entitlement
The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority has outlined three conditions and criteria for eligibility in the emirate's social support program.
It encourages beneficiaries to update information related to family members, residential addresses, monthly income, and contact numbers. The Authority has implemented electronic solutions for seamless access, successfully reducing the time needed to approve applications and allocate support amounts to less than a month.
To qualify for the social support program, individuals must be UAE citizens, hold a family book from Abu Dhabi, reside in the emirate, and have a family income below the support line. Additionally, family wealth should be less than six times the poverty line. The Authority emphasizes its commitment to achieving strategic goals that enhance family cohesion and collaboration, integrating with partners in social empowerment, and providing scientific and practical training.
The Authority's electronic link system with 27 government agencies ensures up-to-date information about beneficiaries, facilitating support for deserving families in Abu Dhabi. This aligns with the Effortless Government initiative. The Authority has also developed a system for managing home visits and interviews, streamlining field visit procedures, automating scheduling, and updating databases for more efficient operations.
In collaboration with strategic partners, the Authority has successfully empowered beneficiaries through training, education, and employment programs. Notably, 554 beneficiaries found employment, 385 underwent training to enhance skills, and 164 completed their educational journey during the 2022–2023 academic year. Financial awareness and guidance programs benefited 207 families in Abu Dhabi, supporting stability and financial independence.
The Authority operates three main programs: the Abu Dhabi Social Support Program for low-income national families, the Empowerment Program to encourage qualified beneficiaries to enter the labor market, and the Financial Guidance Program to enhance financial management skills.
Since its establishment in 2019, the authority has supported approximately 8,434 beneficiary families. It currently assists about 4,475 families, totaling 28,818 individuals. The automatic update system ensures proactive data collection from associated government agencies, enabling the automatic calculation and approval of new monthly entitlements, significantly reducing the approval period to less than a month without human intervention.
