Sharjah Authority announces the complete closure of some roads
Bad weather in the United Arab Emirates on Monday morning caused low-lying neighborhoods and several main roadways to become severely flooded.
The Eastern Province Police Department of Sharjah Police announced the closure of the ring road in Kalba city, specifically at the Mohammed bin Zayed City Intersection, due to heavy rainfall. This closure necessitated caution from drivers, who were advised to seek alternative routes and avoid areas where valleys and dams were experiencing overflow.
There was also an announcement that Corniche Road leading to Maryam Island will be closed entirely by the Sharjah Road and Transport Authority. From Monday, February 12, until Tuesday, August 13, the area was closed to the public as a result of infrastructure development-related construction activities.
Responding to the adverse weather conditions and the accumulation of rainwater, Sharjah Police temporarily closed several roads in the cities of Khor Fakkan and Kalba. These temporary closures affected:
The internal road leading to Al Rabi Tower.
The road leading to the square of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship building, along with an extension to the square of the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority station.
The road leading to the village of Najd Al-Maqsar.
Clock Tower Square in Kalba City, particularly the direction towards residential areas.
These closures were implemented to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians amidst the challenging weather conditions.
