Etihad Rail reveals its trial journey from Abu Dhabi to Dubai
Recently, Etihad Rail completed a test passenger train trip from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, which represents a critical turning point in the construction of the UAE National Railway Network.
The Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Major General Staff Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, led the expedition. The train headed to Al Qudra in Dubai, departing from Etihad Rail's main operations and maintenance base at Al Faya.
The Ministry of Defense sent a delegation to Major General Staff Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan to assess the company's accomplishments since its founding and the status of Etihad Rail's freight train operations. Etihad Rail CEO Shadi Malak and other top officials welcomed Sheikh Ahmed and the team when they arrived at the facility in Dubai.
Throughout the trip, Etihad Rail employees from the United Arab Emirates gave the group updates on the company's noteworthy advancements since freight operations began in February 2023. Notably, Etihad Rail has moved more than 2.4 million metric tons of aggregate and 7.4 million metric tons of sulfur throughout the United Arab Emirates.
The team also gained knowledge about Etihad Rail's significant contribution to the nation's logistics and transportation industries. They talked about how the business supports the sustainable development and economic expansion of the United Arab Emirates in accordance with the directives of the government, especially under the direction of Etihad Rail Chairman Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The goals stated in the UAE Centennial Plan 2071 and the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 can only be achieved with the help of this contribution.
A thorough tour of the operations and repair facilities, which are essential to the National Railway Network, was also included in the visit. The delegation was given an overview of how the control center monitors and oversees the network's functioning. Overall, the trial trip has demonstrated Etihad Rail's commitment to developing the UAE's transportation infrastructure and bolstering the nation's strategic goals for sustainability and economic growth.
