Dubai RTA Unveils Revamped 2024-2030 Strategic Plan
The Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Strategic Plan 2024-2030, approved by the Supreme Committee for Strategic Planning and Institutional Transformation, is designed to resonate with Dubai's ambitious vision.
Alignment with visionary goals
Aligned with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the plan seeks to position Dubai as the world's premier city for living and embraces the Emirate's aspirations outlined in the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Emirate Plan 2033.
Focus on futuristic mobility
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of RTA, emphasised the plan's commitment to anticipating the future and supporting strategic projects that enhance the economy and quality of life. Among the pioneering initiatives is the integration of self-driving electric Chevrolet Bolt cars into Dubai's transportation network. This bold move positions Dubai as the first city outside the United States to deploy autonomous vehicles from the American Cruise Company.
Strategic Goals and Objectives
The strategic plan revolves around five key goals, emphasising integration, innovative mobility, accessibility enhancement, service expansion, and smart mobility solutions. Core to these objectives is the 20-minute principle, ensuring that over 80% of daily services are accessible within a 20-minute walk or bike ride. The plan also underscores the importance of future readiness, talent development, effective partnerships, research, development, innovation, and a robust data-driven approach.
Sustainable Transport for a Green Future
Reflecting the national commitment to sustainability, the plan intensifies efforts to transition to zero-emission transport. RTA pioneers the region by adopting the strategy "Zero-emission public transport in the Emirate of Dubai 2050." This groundbreaking initiative aims to convert all taxis and limousines to 100% electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2040 and buses by 2050, setting a 42.5% target for sustainable transportation by 2030.
Health, Safety, and Customer Happiness
The plan also prioritises health, safety, and security by enhancing transportation safety, securing assets, and promoting occupational health. Customer happiness is a pivotal focus, emphasising tailored services and proactive measures to meet the evolving needs and expectations of Dubai's residents and visitors.
As Dubai moves forward, RTA's strategic plan stands as a beacon, guiding the emirate towards a future where cutting-edge mobility, sustainability, and customer satisfaction converge seamlessly.
