UAE issues weather alerts for dense fog and reduces speed limits
After a weekend marked by rainfall and thunderstorms, the current weather forecast indicates fair conditions for today, with intervals of partly cloudy to cloudy skies expected, particularly during the night, especially over islands and coastal regions. This prediction comes from the National Centre of Meteorology.
The NCM has issued both red and yellow alerts nationwide due to the presence of dense fog. Residents have been cautioned about reduced visibility in these foggy areas until 10 a.m..
Abu Dhabi Police have issued warnings to motorists regarding decreased visibility resulting from the fog, urging drivers to exercise caution on the roads. They have also advised adhering to the indicated speed limits on road signs and electronic directional boards.
In response to the foggy conditions, the authority has implemented a speed reduction system, limiting speeds to 80 km/hr on select roads across the emirate. These roads include Shk. Khalifa Bin Zayed Intl Road (Al Nof-AAL Thamiriya), Madinat Zayed to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Street), Shk. Maktoum Bin Rashid (Ajban Bridge-GGhantoot), Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road (Al Samha-SSaih Al Shuaib), Abu Dhabi-AAl Ain Road (Abu Samra-AAl Khaznah), and Sweihan Road (Zayed Military City-AAirport Bridge), Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road.
As the night progresses into Tuesday morning, weather conditions are expected to become more humid in some inland areas. Winds are forecasted to be light to moderate, occasionally picking up in strength over the sea.
Sea conditions are expected to range from slight to moderate, with the possibility of becoming rough by Tuesday morning in the Arabian Gulf while remaining slight in the Oman Sea.
Temperature-wise, mountainous areas may experience lows of 10 °C, with maximum temperatures reaching 32 °C in inland regions.
