Dubai Health Insurance: $5.9bn transactions, 44m claims, 12,280 packages, 8,894 providers
Dubai's health insurance sector witnessed significant growth last year, with transactions amounting to $5.9 billion, reflecting the increasing value and volume within the industry.
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) underscored the robustness of the city's healthcare insurance system, renowned as one of the most sophisticated integrated systems globally.
Notably, transactions processed through the electronic healthcare insurance portal surpassed AED 21.68 billion ($5.9 billion) in 2023, with individual contributions exceeding AED 1.1 billion ($300 million). This system benefits 4.47 million individuals, offering access to a wide array of comprehensive insurance packages encompassing 12,280 options catering to all segments of society.
Moreover, the report unveiled substantial advancements in the healthcare insurance landscape throughout 2023, witnessing a surge in both the number of transactions and processed claims. A remarkable 143.32 million transactions were received, and over 44.1 million insurance claims were processed through the electronic portal.
These figures mark a significant escalation from 2012, with monthly claims skyrocketing from 100,000 to 3.67 million in 2023. Additionally, the number of electronic medical prescriptions soared to 18.05 million. Furthermore, the health sector comprises 8,894 health service providers, along with 71 insurance and claims management companies operating within Dubai.
