Dubai to Introduce 762 Modern Bus Canopies for public transport passengers
Improving the quality of public transportation in Dubai is the plan of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which will build 762 state-of-the-art bus canopies at strategic points across the emirate.

Implementation and timeline
Anticipated to be completed by 2025, the RTA aims to provide commuters with state-of-the-art bus shelters. Additionally, the authority is exploring the use of 3D printing technology in collaboration with a company and conducting experiments to assess the feasibility of this innovative approach.

A Place for Everyone" initiative, the new canopies adhere to the Dubai Code for People of Determination and ensure wheelchair-accessible areas. Classified Models
The bus shelters are categorized into four tiers based on daily usage:
- Main Stop: Serving over 750 passengers daily
- Secondary Stop: Serving 250 to 750 passengers daily
- Primary Stop: Serving 100 to 250 passengers daily
- Pick-up/Drop-off Station: Used by up to 100 passengers daily.
Stops at the main terminals often have air conditioning, covered outdoor seating, advertising space, and screens that show bus routes, timetables, pick-up times, and other passenger-related information.
