The UAE reveals Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr 2024 dates
The Emirates Astronomy Society has projected the probable dates for Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr 2024 in the UAE, using the Islamic Hijri calendar.
Chairman Ibrahim Al Jarwan indicates that Rabi Al Awwal, the month following Safar, is expected to commence on September 16 according to astronomical computations.
Anticipated Dates for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2024 in the UAE
The holy month of Ramadan is anticipated to begin in the second week of March 2024, according to astronomical predictions. The anticipated date of Eid al-Fitr is April 10.
On the other hand, the Islamic Hijri calendar is dependent on the appearance of the crescent moon, so the exact dates are subject to change. Islamic months differ from the Gregorian calendar in that they last either 29 or 30 days, depending on the lunar sighting.
Fasting Rituals and Spiritual Reflection
Muslims globally observe Ramadan as the holiest month, commemorating the revelation of the Holy Quran. Fasting commences before the Fajr (morning) prayer call and concludes at the Maghrib (dusk) prayer call. This period fosters self-discipline, gratitude, empathy for the less fortunate, and a deeper connection with God. Devotees dedicate additional time to prayer and Quranic contemplation.
Spiritual atmosphere in the UAE
In the UAE, the Holy Month brings a profound sense of spirituality. School and office schedules are adjusted as Muslims abstain from food and water during daylight hours. The community engages in various religious and cultural activities, fostering unity and collective worship.
Celebration of Eid al-Fitr
As Ramadan concludes, the celebratory occasion of Eid al-Fitr awaits, marking the first day of Shawwal, the month succeeding Ramadan. The festivities include Zakat Al Fitr, a charitable contribution, a special morning prayer, a joyous feast, and the exchange of sweets. This joyous occasion signifies gratitude, unity, and the culmination of a spiritually enriching month.
