Saudi Arabia warns against hazards of impending thunderstorms in these cities
In recent advice, the General Directorate of Civil Defense emphasized how crucial it is to take precautions in light of the impending possibility of inclement weather.
People are urged to take extreme caution and seek shelter in safe places; in particular, they should avoid areas that are vulnerable to flash floods, waterlogging, and valleys.
Swimming in these precarious locales is strongly discouraged due to the inherent dangers associated with such activities, highlighting the imperative need for public awareness and adherence to safety guidelines. In anticipation of impending thunderstorms forecast to affect multiple regions across the Kingdom from Saturday through Thursday, the Civil Defense has initiated a proactive approach to mitigate potential risks and safeguard public welfare.
The Makkah region is the most affected, with moderate to severe rains likely to cause flash floods, hailstorms, and strong downdraft winds. Sandstorms and dust storms will also be a problem. It is expected that the most vulnerable areas will be affected by these unfavorable weather events, including the holy city of Makkah, Jumum, Al-Kamil, Taif, Maysan, Adam, Al-Aridyat, Turbah, Ranyah, Al-Muwayh, and Al-Khurmah. It is also anticipated that these weather disturbances will have an impact on the Riyadh region, which includes the capital Riyadh, Diriyah, Afif, Dawadmi, Al-Quway'iyah, Majma'ah, Thadiq, Marat, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Shaqra, Rumah, Huraymila, Durma, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Kharj, Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Sulayyil, Al-Aflaj, Hotat Bani Tamim, and Al-Hariq.
The regions of Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Asir, Al-Baha, Al-Qassim, the Northern Borders, Jazan, Madinah, Hail, and the Eastern Province are all included in the Civil Defense's cautious advice. The Civil Defense has published safety measures, which residents living in certain locations are advised to heed with heightened caution. The General Directorate of Civil Defense places the safety and well-being of the public above all else and works to reduce the hazards that may arise from bad weather through coordinated efforts and preventative measures.
