Saudi Arabia is set to elevate its aviation sector, targeting 330 million air passengers and attracting $100 billion in investments by 2030.
Abdulaziz Al Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), shared this ambitious vision during the Wings India 2024 exhibition conference in Hyderabad. The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position the Kingdom as a leading regional hub and a global logistics platform connecting three continents.
GACA's president emphasized the critical role of civil aviation in supporting economic growth and sustainable development in Saudi Arabia. The aviation strategy encompasses a comprehensive plan to upgrade airports, airlines, aircraft, and facilities, along with shipping and logistics services. The goal is to expand the Kingdom's air connectivity to over 250 destinations worldwide through 29 airports, with a special focus on Riyadh and Jeddah as global connectivity centers.
Al Duailej highlighted the strategy's commitment to boosting air freight and logistics services, aiming to increase air freight capacity from 0.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons by 2030. This initiative seeks to attract global air carriers, logistics service providers, and multinational companies to Saudi Arabia.
Acknowledging India's significant role in the aviation market, Al Duailej expressed Saudi Arabia's interest in strengthening relations and expanding air links between the two countries. The Kingdom aims to capitalize on the potential and opportunities offered by India's civil aviation sector.
As part of its global engagement, Saudi Arabia invited participants in the Wings India 2024 exhibition to attend the Future of Aviation Conference in Riyadh from May 20 to 22, 2024. The conference aims to contribute to the future of civil aviation by fostering cooperation with international partners for a prosperous, growing, and sustainable aviation sector.
This strategic vision reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to transforming its aviation landscape, fostering economic development, and positioning itself as a key player in the global aviation arena.
