Saudi Arabia: 25% saudization for engineering professions from July 21, 2024
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, has declared a significant initiative to Saudize 25 percent of engineering professions within the private sector, effective as of July 21, 2024.
This mandate will be applicable to all private sector entities employing a minimum of five individuals engaged in engineering professions.
The joint effort by the two ministries is a strategic move designed to create more vibrant and fruitful employment opportunities for both male and female citizens across various regions of the Kingdom. In alignment with this objective, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has committed to overseeing and executing this directive. The aim is to elevate the participation levels of citizens in the labour market while ensuring that the implementation aligns with the demands of the labour market and the specific requirements of engineering professions.
Furthermore, the ministry emphasised that private sector establishments will have access to a range of incentives and support programmes facilitated by the human resources and social development stems. These initiatives are geared towards aiding establishments in the hiring of Saudi nationals. Support mechanisms include assistance in the attraction and identification of suitable workers, backing for essential training and qualification processes, and facilitation of recruitment and career advancement.
In addition to these measures, private sector entities are accorded priority in leveraging various nationalisation support programmes embedded within the system. The Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) further contributes to this initiative by offering support and employment programmes to enhance the successful integration of Saudi nationals into the workforce. This comprehensive approach underscores the commitment of the ministries to fortify the national workforce and empower citizens within the dynamic landscape of engineering professions.
