The project, which is scheduled to end on March 9, 2024, aims to improve the cultural scene in the country by attracting tourists to the Al Balad Historic District in Jeddah.
Enriching cultural experiences
A wide variety of cultural activities are planned for Balad Al Fann, including four art exhibitions, musical performances, theatre productions, interactions with local cuisine, and educationally focused interactive events. A greater respect for the arts among local residents is the ultimate aim.
Vision 2030
Abdulaziz Al Issa, the Director-General of the programme, emphasised that Balad Al Fann is aligned with the broader objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The initiative aims to position the Jeddah Historic District as a prominent cultural destination and a thriving creative hub for businesses and entrepreneurs.
The project's multifaceted approach not only showcases artistic expressions but also contributes to the long-term socio-economic vision outlined in Vision 2030.
By combining cultural enrichment with economic development, the Jeddah Historic District Programme is playing a pivotal role in transforming the region into a vibrant centre that transcends its historical roots.
Sensory Engagement
This effort is focused on the future, and the 'Past Forward' theme reflects that. Balad Al Fann embraces modern creative expressions while inviting locals and tourists to connect with the Jeddah Historic District's rich cultural history via the creation of one-of-a-kind sensory experiences.
As the project unfolds, it is expected to leave a lasting impact on the local cultural scene, drawing attention to the historical significance of Al Balad and establishing it as a dynamic hub for creativity and innovation.
Cultural Destination and Creative Hub
Balad Al-Fann not only serves as a celebration of the past but also lays the foundation for a cultural legacy that aligns with the modern aspirations of Saudi Arabia. Through exhibitions, performances, and interactive engagements, the initiative strives to transform the Jeddah Historic District into a cultural destination and a thriving creative ecosystem, contributing to the overarching goals of the Vision 2030 agenda.
